The Fall 2016 Girls on the Run of Dayton Celebratory 5k is Sunday, November 20, at 10 a.m., at Welcome Stadium! Our girls are working toward their goal of completing a 5k run. Please join them in their journey and the celebration of their accomplishment. This event is open to the public, and you can run or walk alongside them or come out and cheer them on. Registration is open at: www.speedy-feet.com.
What began as a program in one school 20 years ago has grown to become a national force for good, now annually serving more than 179,000 girls in 50 states and the District of Columbia – including girls right here in the Miami Valley! Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in the 3rd-8th grades. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. Each season culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
At Girls on the Run, we envision a world where all girls know their limitless potential and are free to boldly pursue their dreams. Over the past 20 years, more than 1 million girls have participated in Girls on the Run. Over the next 20 years, we are excited to serve even more girls, empowering them to be their best and reach their goals.
Please consider joining us in empowering the young girls in Clark, Greene, Miami and Montgomery counties.
Whether you are available a couple hours per week or per year, please consider getting involved as a coach or volunteer. Please also consider making a financial contribution to support our Girls on the Run council. Every dollar will help us serve more girls in Dayton and the surrounding communities!
