Other Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer today with Girls on the Run of Dayton!

BE A SUPER STAR VOLUNTEER!

Girls on The Run of Dayton is always looking for individuals who are interested in empowering the young girls in our community and assisting us in achieving our mission of inspiring them to be joyful, healthy and confident. Volunteer opportunities include helping in the areas of 5k, marketing, fundraising, even planning and program management.

We are currently in need of volunteers to help at our Spring Celebratory 5k on Sat., May 13 at Welcome Stadium.

Course Marshalls: Provide direction to runners and walkers along the course. Marshalls are needed from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Cheer Zone Lead:  Each Cheer Zone Lead organizes a group to form a Cheer Zone along the 5k course. Groups are encouraged to make signs with encouraging messages, wear fun costumes and/or bring pom-poms, cow bells, noise makers, music, etc. Creativity is encouraged! Cheer Zone groups should be in place by 9:45 a.m. and will be asked to stay in place until that last runners/walkers have passed them (approximately 11 a.m.)

Greeters:  These individuals will be positioned at the entrances and at some other places around Welcome Stadium to greet the girls and their families, answer questions and provide directions. Greeters are needed from 8 – 10 a.m., but are encouraged to stay for the run to cheer the girls on.

Refreshments:  These volunteers set up and pass out refreshments before and after the run. The time commitment is 8:15 a.m. – noon.

Running Buddy:  During the 5K, each of our girls will have a Running Buddy by her side for support. Many of our girls will have a family member running with them, but others need a community volunteer to be their Running Buddy. All Volunteer Running Buddies must be female, 18 years of age and able to run.

Water Station:  These volunteers pour and serve water from a station mid-way along the 5k course at Carillon Park. The time commitment is from 9:45 a.m. – approx. 11 a.m.
